MAIN STORY |
The
series premiered in 1948. Stopped in 1961. For
13 years Nielsen wrote and drew a series that was, in
reality, one long epic story starring a great number of
diverse characters with young Eg as the only one to stay
for the duration (Eg means Oak in English and the series'
title Egene means The Oaks). The longrunning epos spans
over a lot of historically plausible locations (in
Denmark and abroad), and it even spans over a few
historical ages; when Eg leaves Denmark to travel south
he moves from the Bronze Age, and when he returns after
lenghty visits to the Roman and Greek cultures, Denmark
has entered the Iron Age. |
