The series premiered in 1970. Stopped in 1980.

The starring character, Albert Merlind, is a magician, who travels Europe during the latter part of the 19th century accompanied by his wife Anita and two daughters, Alice and Bettina. Merlind gets knowledge of shady types of spiritism and supposed supernatural events, and he uses professional tricks such as hypnosis to reveal the charlatans.

Initially, the series was titled Dr. Merling.
