The series premiered in
1962. Stopped in 1969 after 27 issues.
The starring character is a physicist named Raymond
Solar. After having been subjected to a massive amount of
radiation he gains atomic power enabling him to manipulate
matters and blast bolts of energy. Also, he has heightened
senses and the power to fly. As a superhero - dressed in a
fitting costume - he uses all his newfound abilities to
battle villains and aliens.
The series' full title is Doctor Solar Man of
the Atom. It must not be confused with Solar starring
Phil Saleski.
