MAIN STORY
The series premiered in 1931. Stopped: See above.

The character of Tracy is an eagle-nosed, steel-eyed, hard-hitting, plain-clothed policeman who usually gets his man. He is sometimes supported by the police force, and he has a small arsenal of futuristic gadgets at his disposal in his eternal hunt for criminals.

The long running series had a large and varied gallery of outstanding characters, especially arch criminals, and Gould was very careful to supply them with names that corresponded with their appearances, vices or traits. Here are a few examples:
Tess Trueheart, Pruneface, Rhodent, Pear Shape, Piggy, Mumbles, Itchy, Nifty, The Blank, Kiss Andtel, Shoulders, Larceny Lu, Spots, B.O. Plenty, Gravel Gertie, Little Face, Shaky, Deafy, The Brow, The Midget, Christmas Early, Measels, The Mole, Vitamin Flintheart, Diet Smith, Flattop, Ugly Christine, Dr. Plain, Breathless Mahoney...
