MAIN STORY

The series premiered in 1997*. Stopped in 2002 after 70 issues, but has been revived numerous times since then.

The title character's alter ego is that of Wayne Winston Wilson, who has obtained superhero powers via a special Weapon X program, that renders him invulnerable to both attacks and diseases. In this series - that has comical overtones - Deadpool's primary functions are as an assassin and a mercenary against villains, but he sometimes becomes mentally unstable rendering him somewhat of a villain himself.
