The series premiered in
1965. Stopped in 1969 after 15 issues.
The series borrows its name from the famous American pioneer,
explorer, and frontiersman Daniel Boone
(1734-1820). Although the stories are fiction, they do express
Boone's dedication to help settlers as well as the original
population. Historically, Boone participated in the
Revolutionary War (1775-1783) against the British rule.
The series is a spinoff from a TV series that
ran from 1964 to 1970 (165 episodes).
