MAIN STORY

The series premiered in 1968. Stopped in 1970 after 19 issues.

The series portrays the professional life of Captain Simon Savage, who is the leader of a specialized squad of tough American marine soldiers (leathernecks) fighting in the Pacific theater during World War 2.

The full title of the series is Capt. Savage and his Leatherneck Raiders (retitled to Captain Savage and his Battlefield Raiders from #9). Between the two title runs Savage went from being bearded to being clean-shaven.
