The series premiered in 1941. Stopped in 1954.

The background for the series is that a young Freddy Freeman is crippled by a Nazi superhero(!), but rescued by Captain Marvel, who takes him to his own tutor, a magician named Shazam, to be cured. He succeeds and endows Freeman with the same superpowers that his rescuer possess. Soon Freeman is active in fighting villainous criminals.
