Personal dates: Founded in 1946 as a division of Charlton Publications. Stopped in 1985. Founders were Ed Levy and John Santangelo.

Comments: Charlton published stories from all genres of the comic book universe. The company was known for its low-budget activities that included the publishing of previously unpublished material from bygone companies.

 

 

MAIN STORY

The series premiered in 1965*. Stopped in 1967 after 12 issues, but has been revived several times since then.

The starring character is Allen Adam, a scientist who works for the military. At one point he gets trapped in an experimental, nuclear rocket that explodes and renders him with superpowers. He turns to battling villains and helping people and to that end he has to wear a special costume designed to shield them from the atomic rays he radiates.
