MAIN STORY

The series premiered in 2004. Stopped in 2011 after 12 issues.

This is a Japanese version depicting the life story of the infamous Italian Renaissance aristocrat Cesare Borgia and his ruthless attempts to reach power. The series is filled with real characters from the era such as Pope Alexander VI, half-sister Lucretia Borgia, nobleman Giovanni Sforza, and politician Niccolò Machiavelli.

The series' title refers to the contagious poison that allegedly runs in Borgia's veins. In reality, it is an arsenic acid that was back then mostly used as a powder to kill opponents.
