MAIN STORY

The series premiered in 1943. Stopped in 1989.

The series started as a wartime comic, in which John 'Buz' S. Sawyer functioned as a Navy fighter pilot primarily in the Pacific theater. At the time Sawyer had a gunner, Roscoe Sweeney, who later started in his own series. Later on, Sawyer fought in Korea in the 1950s and in Vietnam in the 1960s.
During the peacetime periods inbetween Sawyer starred as an adventurous civilian, and he sometimes worked for a company named Trouble Shooters Inc. managed by Gloria Pennywit.
