The series premiered in 1962. Stopped in 1979 after 21 issues.

The starring character, Bullwinkle J. Moose, is a goodnatured but dim-witted moose who constantly gets himself entangled in outlandish and silly situations. To his aid comes his much more brainy friend, Rocket J. Squirrel also known as Rocky the Flying Squirrel, who often manages to straighten things out.

The series is a spinoff from  a TV cartoon series that ran from 1959 to 1964. Initially, it was titled Rocky and his Friends, but reflecting the popularity of the character Bullwinkle the title changed to The Bullwinkle Show.

The full title of the series (from #3) is Bullwinkle and Rocky.
