The series premiered in 1972. Stopped in 1987 but restarted in 2002.

The series is one long, epic Old West adventure with some focus on grand nature scenery. The character Buddy Longway is a conscious trapper and hunter who is on good terms with most of the many prairie Indian tribes. At one point he marries one of the Indians, a squaw named Chinook.
