Messick stopped working on her series in 1980.

MAIN STORY

The series premiered in 1940.

The series' starring character, starry-eyed Brenda Starr, is an adventurous reporter, who spends most of her time travelling the world in pursuit of stories. She is an efficient and determined woman, who attracts exciting assignments often in exotic locations, and romances are not far apart.

Starr was modelled after the redheaded American actress Rita Hayworth.
