The series premiered in
1938.
The title character is a Saint Bernhard dog owned
by Donald Duck. It never speaks, and it is very doubtful
if there is much brainwork going on inside. Apparently, it is
content with eating and sleeping all day.
The stories were/are written by an overwhelming
number of artists. Examples: Homer Brightman (1901-1988), Carl
Barks (1901-2000), Robert 'Bob' Louis Karp (1911-1975), Evert
Geradts (1943-), Janet Rae Gilbert (1953-), Frank Jonker
(1965-).
