MAIN STORY

The series premiered in 1940. Stopped in 1949 after 101 issues, but was revived from 1949 to 1954 (additional 23 issues).

The title character is a former college football star, Fred Parrish, who is struck twice by lightnings. He is healed by a scientist using an experimental radium treatment, which gives Parrish superpowers. He now ventures out to battle dark forces including the Axis powers of World War 2.
The series also contains stories featuring recurring characters in their own stories. Dick 'The Wonder Boy' Cole is the prime example (and he is portrayed the most times in the front covers).
