Name: DC (American comics corporation).
Personal dates: Founded in 1934 by Malcolm Wheeler-Nicholson (1890-1968) as National Allied Publications, but the name changed in 1937 to Detective Comics (later shortened to DC). Stopped in 2011.

Comments: The corporation's logo changed several times over the years. The selected one ran from 1976 to 2005.

 

 

MAIN STORY

The series premiered in 1986*. Stopped in 1988 after 24 issues.

The original title character was Dan Garret, but when he died his student Ted Kord took over. Kord, as a superhero, uses an ancient Egyptian scarab to gain the powers needed to fight the villains he meets.

* The title character was first published in a series from 1939, and since then several series have emerged. The one described on this page is the 6th of 8 longer publications.
