MAIN STORY

The series premiered in 1950*. Stopped in 1955 after 20 issues, but has been revived a few times since then.

The title character's real name is Matthews Masters. He grew up in the Old West where he first took the alter ego as Cactus Kid in order to revenge his parents who had gotten killed by looters. Later on, Masters changes his appearance and name to that of Black Rider, now on a determined mission to rid the West of bad guys.

* This series is a continuation of Western Winners from 1949, but the title character as such premiered in Wild Western from 1948.
