MAIN STORY
The series premiered in 1950.

The stories take place in a soldiers' environment and is set in fictional Camp Swampy. On rare occasions the characters participate in maneouvers outside the campground, and the enlisted men are also seen in the nearby town from time to time.
The soldiers (both privates and officers) are heavily caricated; they are all special in different fields and inept on a number of different levels.
