MAIN STORY

The series premiered in 1991. Stopped in 1996 after 63 issues, but alongside with the series ran another titled Barbie Fashion from 1991 to 1995 (53 issues).

The title character is a longlegged, fashion-conscious teenager who lives in a glamourous and almost perfect world. She associates with a large number of friends and relatives (Christie, Courtney, Ken, Skipper, Steven, and Teresa are examples), she goes on adventurous vacations, and participates in parties and a musical band.

The series is based on the character that was introduced in 1959 as a fashion doll manufactured by the toy company Mattel, Inc.
