The character Achille Talon is a perfect gentleman and a formidable intellectual - in his own mind. To all others he is vain and tyrannical. Although he is in his forties, he still lives with his parents, and his neighbour, Hilarion Lefuneste, is also his only friend. The series is especially characterized by its many puns clearly suggesting that Regnier was primarily a gifted writer.
The name of the series derives from the French term Talon d'Achille, that means Achilles' Heel, a somewhat suitable name for the series' primary character.
